Panagbenga 2009 – 14th Baguio Flower Festival

The 14th Baguio Flower Festival or “Panagbenga” as popularly known in most parts of the country will officially open on February 1 with a field demonstration and an evening concert at Melvin Jones, just beside Burnham Park.

The Grand Street Dancing Parade will be held in the morning of February 28. As usual, participants come from the winning street dancers and bands from the elementary, high school, and college categories.

The Grand Float Parade, the heart of the Panagbenga Festival, will be held on March 1, 2009. The flower parade starts from Session Road and ends at the Athletic Bowl.

On March 2-8, will be the Session Road in Bloom, a open trade fair that feature flower inspired products.

The other major activities lined up are:

February 13, 2009 – “Baguio in Bloom”, a mosaic painting activity. It will be held at Melvin Jones Grandstand.

February 14, 2009 – Fluvial Parade at the Burnham Lake

February 22, 2009 – Let A Thousand Flowers Bloom

February 23-25, 2009 – Legarda Rocks

February 26-28, 2009 – Abanao Nights

March 5-6, 2009 – Gymkhana

The closing ceremony will be on March 8 at the Baguio Athletic Bowl. Winners in various competitions during the month long Flower Festival will be awarded.
