It’s been raining all the way for three consecutive days here in Baguio. This is probably due to the monsoon rains brought by a typhoon called “MARCE”. Marce is said to be moving very slow at 7 kph only and is spotted North Northeast of Basco, Batanes. It is expected to reach Taiwan by Sunday afternoon.
The typical stormy season in Baguio and the Cordilleras as well starts in June and ends in the last week of September but sometimes extending until October. The occasional rains which occurs every afternoon starts as early as April and may end until November.
Normal rains during this month is beneficial to the farmers of Baguio and Benguet. To many tourists and visitors of Baguio, the occasional rainy afternoons bring more excitement to them because they can really feel how cool Baguio is especially when the temperature drops to 15 degree Celsius. When it rains in other parts of the country, it often mean a bad day. Flood, heavy traffic, and other bad stuff happen especially in the country’s capital city, Manila.
It is also during rainy season that the heavens will come down and kiss the lands of Baguio. If you’re lucky enough to be here during this meditative days, you can witness how FOG from the heavens starts covering every part of the city. Sometimes the covering is so thick that you can’t see your friend from 5 meters away. How romantic and memorable moment would it be if you’re with your especial someone feeling the soothing coldness brought by heavens angels.
Okay, I’m just making some drama here but I’m sure you’ll love the experience of being in a foggy place.
To the locals, well, life goes on as usual. Agkape tayo ketdi.
